| Customer Reviews: Great,Fun watch August 26, 2010 jluc To get a Swiss automatic chronograph (based on the legendary Lemania 5100) for this price is amazing. Plastic case and some parts are no big deal-this is a bargain. It may not be a rugged everyday watch if that's what you're looking for but it sure fits the bill for a fun, casual timepiece which is stylish and unique. I had to take a star away due to the fact that the dial printing on a couple of prominent numerals was a little sloppy-but only noticeable under a loupe.
Graet value watch July 24, 2010 Nandinhos Great Automatic Watch, just don't belive in the bad revies about this product looks great and the swiss made eta caliber it's simply awesome
Poor movement? Sounds like poor judgement April 11, 2010 M. Pipas (NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is one of three auto chronos from swatch that I own. (I have the Simply Pure and Blunge models as well--worked for swatch when these came out and got ridiculous discounts!) Let me say this before I continue--before I worked for swatch I used to wear only Seiko and Orient automatics. These Swatch automatics is what led me to eventually sell or give away my Japanese watches. The thing that jumped out at me right from the start was the quality of the movement. All three if my autos keep to within +5 a day, sometimes running +1 seconds a day! They are just as accurate as my $4000 Longines watch. The power reserve is 46 hours which blows away Orient and Seiko which gave me 38 hours on average. The chronograph function is not much different from my Hamilton watch with the Valjoux movement. In fact, placed side by side, the movements appear identical. Sapphire crystal!--boom, right there both Seiko and Orient can't compete with their so called scratch proof mineral crystals (which never proved to be true in my experience). The leather band on this watch is comfy and has a cool croc pattern but feels a little cheap to the touch. The dial is very nice looking with the contrasting silver, black, red colors. The case is made of hard plastic but that's actually a good thing. All my stainless steel cases scratch, get easily dinged, and can get very hot or cold in extreme temperatures. The swatch plastic case on this watch has withstood just about everything without a single scratch or mark. The watch looks 10x more expensive than it is--I've been asked several times how I can afford a Tag Carrera watch...and then people realize its a swatch! Ha! Overall, at these prices I would jump on this watch but make sure you get the warranty. A few of these run fast or have minor issues but swatch will swap it out for a new watch if you have a warranty. Just to clarify something on that review before mine--if your chronograph is not resetting just google "calibrating swatch chronographs". All swatch chronos can be reset without having to bring in the watch to a jeweler. Enjoy!
Poor movement quality March 30, 2010 T. Sheng 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is the lowest priced auto chrono on the market, and it shows. I can live with a cheap bracelet and case, but the movement was very poor. The chrono triggers are very punchy and do not give a satisfying click. The chrono mechanism was defective, so that each reset wound back the hour counter by 1 (rather than returning to zero). Terrible watch.
Great, affordable automatic chronograph January 19, 2010 Jax (Houston, Texas) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I love this watch. It's very unique since it is the only automatic chronograph of it's kind. The movement is the same movement in some Tissot watches but the style of this watch is very different, probably one of the sportiest automatic chronographs you can get. The case of made of a very hard durable type of plastic which might turn some people off but I've had mine since October and have had no issues with damage or scratches in the case. I actually think it has held up better than watches I have owned with stainless steel cases. The crystal is sapphire which is nice because compared to other Swatches it should be very durable, and the back has a transparent mineral crystal window. The chronograph works very well although the dial only goes up to 6 hours. I've tested the power reserve and it seems to last for about 50 hours or so without wearing it before it stops running. The movement seems to keep very good time. The band is very comfortable, probably one of the nicest leather watch bands I've owned.
Downsides:
It's a bit loud compared to other watches (the ticking is really easy to hear, maybe because of the case, but I actually kind of think that is cool), and the pushers are a bit stiff. Also I think the hands are a bit hard to see in low light, especially the red chronograph hands on a black background. The tip of the minute and hour hands glow in the dark but they don't glow bright enough for me to see very well. Also, I don't think that in general the hands are the easiest to read on any watch that I've owned, but it's really not a big deal to me. The style and value make up for most of the downsides.
Overall this watch is great value, very unique, and the best price you'll ever find on a new automatic chronograph.
